What is Regent Radio?

Regent Radio is a service of Regent Bookstore that gives people from around the world a chance to listen to individual lectures and complete series from the Regent College audio library. Over the years we have collected a vast amount of audio recordings, from public lectures to conferences and complete courses. Regent Radio now brings to you a selection of these recordings for listening over the Web.

What is Required to Listen?

Our audio player requires you to have the Flash Player version 7.0 or higher installed before your can listen. You may already have the player, but if you are experiencing difficulties listening to the programs click here or on the Flash button to download the latest Flash Player for free.

Problems Opening the Player Window

If no window when you click on the listen button it may be because you have software enabled that blocks pop-ups. If this is the case please turn off this feature while visiting Regent Radio.

Report any Difficulties

If you are experiencing any difficulties with the player please let us know.

About Our Schedule

As of right now a day at Regent Radio is divided into eight hour blocks. During these blocks we present (at least) four lectures. The lectures are available for listening any time between the hours listed. For example, if you wanted to hear Gordon Fee on Galatians, and the schedule listed the lecture between 10:00 and 12:00, you could tune in at 11:30 and still hear the complete lecture, providing you kept the player window open. If you close the window anytime past the ending hour and then tried to re-launch the window, the next lecture would begin playing. Once launched a window will automatically close after two hours.

We repeat the eight hour blocks three times a day, so no matter what time zone you are in you should have a chance to listen to the lecture at a time convenient to you.

Lectures that are part of a series might begin and end abruptly. While this is unfortunate, it is due to the editing necessary to break up the series into manageable online lengths. At this time there is no introduction or conclusion to the lecture. The next part of the series will be available according to the schedule, usually the next day.

Why 24-time?

Technical reasons. After doing the programming that runs Regent Radio it was determined this was the best way to run the schedule. We realize that most of you are probably used to a 12-hour clock, and one day we hope to display the schedule that way, but for now it is the way it is. For those who may need a little help here is a conversion chart:

00:00 = midnight
01:00 = 1:00 am
02:00 = 2:00 am
03:00 = 3:00 am
etc., until mid day
12:00 = noon
13:00 = 1:00 pm
14:00 = 2:00 pm
15:00 = 3:00 pm
16:00 = 4:00 pm
17:00 = 5:00 pm
18:00 = 6:00 pm
19:00 = 7:00 pm
20:00 = 8:00 pm
21:00 = 9:00 pm
22:00 = 10:00 pm
23:00 = 11:00 pm

Why Eastern Standard Time?

A good question since Regent College is located in Vancouver, B.C., on the west coast of Canada and, therefore, in the Pacific Time Zone of North America. The quick answer is again, technical. Our web server is located at Gospelcom, which is in the Eastern Time Zone. Since we use the server time to calculate our schedule it was necessary to use EST.

For those tuning in outside North America EST is Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) - 5
