This series explores the fundamental question of Christian thinking in the contemporary western intellectual situation. Many authors have challenged Christians to resist the compartmentalizing of thought so typical of modern life, with "religious" thinking for Sundays and "church" matters, and "rational" thinking for the rest of one's week and life. But the question remains of just how Christians are to do this thinking with integrity, coherence, and at least a degree of simplicity. These lectures set out some of the modern and post-modern challenges facing Christians in this regard, and then propose an outline for faithful Christian living.
John G. Stackhouse, Jr. is Sangwoo Youtong Chee Professor of Theology and Culture at Regent College. He is the author of Can God Be Trusted? and Canadian Evangelicalism in the Twentieth Century: An Introduction to Its Character.
