Serious historical study of Jesus has taken a new course in the latter part of this century. This series re-examines the synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke) in dialogue with this movement and attempts to reconstruct the main lines of Jesus' aims and preaching. In light of this historical reconstruction, Dr. Wright also considers what might be the appropriate hermeneutics in making the life of Jesus applicable to today's church. A few provisos: a) The master audio tape for the second lecture has been lost and a written set of notes was included with the pdf file to cover the material and bridge the gap. b) Two of the lectures have a medium degradation in quality due to the condition of the original tapes. We were unable to digitally clean this up completely.
N. Thomas Wright is Bishop of Durham, Canon Theologian of Westminster Abbey in England and a respected New Testament scholar. His books include The Original Jesus, The Challenge of Jesus, Jesus and the Victory of God and The Millennium Myth.
