The way that we understand Paul's letters is conditioned, often subconsciously, by an overall view of his theology. But this theology has been analysed and interpreted in widely differing fashions. This course examines the theological alternatives and sets forth a new one, centred in Paul's view of Jesus, and shows the effect of this on the other doctrines (e.g. justification) and on the reading of the letters.
N. Thomas Wright is Bishop of Durham, Canon Theologian of Westminster Abbey in England and a respected New Testament scholar. His books include The Original Jesus, The Challenge of Jesus, Jesus and the Victory of God and The Millennium Myth.
